Station 181
5487 Highway 280
Station 181 is the primary station responding to Businesses located along Highway 280 from Cahaba Park Circle to Eagle Point Parkway. In addition Station 181 is the primary response station for:

Units at Station 181 include:
Ladder-181
- 1998 E-One ladder truck with a 75 ft rear mounted aerial ladder. This
truck is first to respond to all structure fires within Cahaba Valley's
district. Ladder-181 is equipped with a 1500 gallons per minute pump and 1000
feet of 5 inch supply hose and 400 feet of 1 3/4 inch diameter attack hose.
Ladder 181 carries a Bullard Thermal Imaging Camera.

181 also equipped with BLS (Basic Life Support) medical equipment
Engine-181
- 2004 Ferrara Engine with a 1250 gallons per minute pump. This engine
responds to both fire and medical calls within the areas listed above.
Engine-181 is equipped with 1200 feet of 5 inch diameter supply hose, 500 feet
of 1 3/4 inch diameter attack hose and all advanced life support equipment for
medical calls.
E-181 is also equipped with a Mobile Data Terminal that
provides a direct link to Shelby County 9-1-1, which increases efficiency in
response times.
Battalion-188
- 2009 Chevrolet 2500. This truck serves as a command vehicle for the
shift Captain on duty. Battalion-188 is equipped with all advanced life
support equipment for medical calls. In addition, Battalion-188 carries
the department's Holmatro vehicle extrication tools (Jaws of Life), an air bag
set for rescue, and a Bullard Thermal Imager. Battalion-188 also has on onboard
computer system that links to Shelby County 911 and relays information regarding
calls within the district. This assists with locating addresses and
reduces response times. Battalion-188 responds to all calls within Cahaba
Valley's district.
SU-1-
Support trailer.
SU-1 contains an on board air compressor, used for
refilling empty SCBA (self contained breathing apparatus) cylinders. The on
board compressor is also capable of providing supplied air to personnel working
at events in which respiratory protection is warranted, such has Hazardous
Materials events.
SU-1 also has a generator and lighting equipment in
order to provide scene lighting.
In addition, the trailer is equipped with basic
rehabilitation supplies for personnel that may be working on the scene of a
protracted event.
Support 181-
2004 Ford F-250 truck.
Support 181 serves as a reserve command vehicle.
Equipment can be moved from Battalion 188 to this
vehicle to ensure shift commander can reach an incident within the district in
the event that Battalion 188 is out of service.
This vehicle also a compliment of 3 inch and 1 ¾
inch hose to assist other apparatus engaged in fire suppression activities
within the District.
