MINUTES OF JUNE 8, 2022, BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING

- Mr. Sarver called the meeting to order at 5:52 P.M.
- The minutes from May 11, 2022, Board Meeting were presented. Dr. Lamberson made a motion to approve the minutes and Mr. Clemmons seconded. The motion passed by unanimous vote.
- The agenda was presented. Dr. Lamberson made a motion to approve the agenda and Mr. Wilkinson seconded. The motion passed by unanimous vote.

REPORT OF THE FIRE CHIEF
- Chief Wilks presented the operations report (see attachment).
-Chief gave a report on structure fires
-One kitchen fire in apartment
- Calls
-Calls are down compared to this time last year because we were transported for Leeds and Irondale at this time last year.
-Mutual aid transports down as expected. Other agencies have placed additional transports in service.
-Meeting with County Manager and Commissioner
-Exploring funding options
-Special purpose district
-Annexations
-2 homes to City of Chelsea
- Two personnel resigned since last board meeting
-One replacement has been hired
- Battalion Chief Roy Retirement
-Battalion Chief John Roy has announced his intent to retire. He is using off time until November 29, 2022 and will officially retire then.
- Jeff Burleson has announce his intent to retire.
-Planning a badge planning ceremony and recognition for the previous board members that have resigned.

- 201 Employment Categories changes- tabled until July meeting
- EMS
o County wide EMS agency- Shelby County is exploring options to fund a county wide agency. They have recognized the need.
- Equipment
-Engine 181 is still down with engine rebuild.
- Engine is being rebuilt. Waiting on parts.
OLD BUSINESS
- Fire Dues
o Exploring options to move forward
o Have met with County Manager and Commissioner to explore options.
- District Letter- State of the District. Working on compressing and completing the letter.
- Survey- Survey is complete and ready to be sent out with the State of the District.
- Resolution to provide a one-time bonus for retirees
o Effects four retired employees. Dr. Lamberson made a motion to approve the resolution and Mr. Wilkinson seconded. The motion passed by unanimous vote. All members signed the resolution.
NEW BUSINESS
- Chief Wilks requests approval to attend the Southeastern Fire Chief Conference in Mobile. Cost $1,200 (registration fee and hotel). Mr. Sarver made a motion to approve and Dr. Lamberson seconded. The motion passed by unanimous vote.
-Mr. Clemmons suggested that we provide station tours to the community to help explain the needs of the District. Need an online signup form.
- Dr. Lamberson made a motion to adjourn, Mr. Wilkinson seconded, and the meeting was adjourned at 6:42 p.m.
