MINUTES OF OCTOBER 25, 2022, BOARD OF TRUSTEES SPECIAL CALLED MEETING

-    Mr. Sarver called the meeting to order at 5:51P.M.

Unresolved Business
•    District vote- what is to be proposed
•        -Discussed various options moving forward
•            -23.5% increase, $575 flat rate, wave ambulance co-pay, maximum of             $100 capital improvement fee, possibility of switching to a millage rate, 
•            - Looking to rework current fee schedule   
•    District Survey
•        Reviewed Community Survey trends- current survey is a small sample
New Business
•    Staffing Plan and Pay increase
•        -Shutting down one rescue unit and reducing staffing model. Increasing firefighter     and paramedic pay.
•        -Mr.  Wilkinson made a motion to Chief’s plan to increase firefighter and     paramedic pay. Mr. Clemmons seconded, and the motion passed.
•    Contract for the sale of Q181
•        -Received a proposal from Command Fire Apparatus to buy the 2020 Pierce     Ladder Truck for $700k. Proposed plan is to sale the current ladder truck and buy     used ladder. Use the difference to offset debt and frees up approximately $9,000     per month in the general budget.
•        -Mr. Clemmons made a motion to sale the ladder truck. Mr. Wilkinson seconded,     and the motion passed.
•    Approval for Chief Wilks to request two (2) new ambulances to be purchased by Shelby County at a cost of $350,000
        -Mr. Clemmons made a motion to make the request to Shelby County. Mr.              Wilkinson seconded and the motion passed.
•    Mr. Clemmons presented a statement from a resident of Highland Lakes in support of the fire district. Would like board review to determine if individual should post to NextDoor.


Motion to adjourn- Mr. Clemmons made motion to dismiss and Mr. Wilkinson seconded 7:16 P.M.
